Have you ever wondered what your purpose in life was? If you don’t know yet, you haven’t gotten out of your comfort zone! While some people have found their purpose and are happy with that, I applaud you and I am very happy to call you fortunate. However, many people are okay with “comfort” and don’t even know the big world there is out there.
Mine happened very unexpectedly in Siesta Key, Florida. Going into the vacation I had been stressed to the max with issues going on at an organization I was volunteering at. Happily playing and drinking with my family the night of arrival, I received phone calls about the drama and strong me just could not take it anymore. I snuck into the bathroom and cried. Few minutes later, dried up my tears and went back to play with a smile on the face because that’s the only thing I know to do. Here I am in Florida trying to enjoy life while everything is mute and all I can think about is my passion back at home collapsing.
I was fortunate to have the best room in the house, on the third floor of a VRBO on Midnight Pass Road. I woke up the next morning, with the balcony to the left of me overlooking the beautiful ocean. I stepped outside, smelled the fresh air, and just stood there. The house had it’s own private walkway to the beach with pavers surrounded by hay. I kept looking beyond and I could see the blue and white of the ocean waves just screaming, “Hey! I’m just a pixel in this vast planet, there is more ocean beyond me.” As I translated the view to my thoughts, I understood I was just one person in a small town letting my frustrations get the best of me. There is something bigger than me out there and from that moment, I knew to let go of my demons peacefully and my happiness was up to me.
